We are pleased to announce that the selection phase has successfully concluded. An international jury of experts, chaired by the renowned Italian cartoonist Paolo Cossi, has selected the ten young talents who will participate in the artistic residency in the Julian Alps MaB UNESCO Biosphere Reserve.

From May 20th to 25th, 2026, the participants will spend five days immersed in the local nature and culture. The goal is to create comic works dedicated to environmental sustainability and the relationship between humans and the environment.

The works produced during the residency will be presented to the public in a traveling exhibition planned for the second half of 2026.

BIOCOMICS – Comics in the Biosphere is promoted by the Julian Prealps Nature Park in collaboration with:

• Friulian Dolomites Nature Park;
• Triglav National Park;
• Forum Ljubljana;
• Institute for Art and Cultural Production;
• Österreichische Gesellschaft für Comics (Austrian Association for Comics).

The initiative is funded with the contribution of the Cultural Activities Service of the Central Directorate for Culture and Sport of the Autonomous Region of Friuli Venezia Giulia for the organization of exhibitions and other cultural activities, including educational and training activities, in the disciplines of figurative arts, visual arts, photography, and multimedia, pursuant to Regional Law 16/2014.
