COMMUNICATION PLAN

THE JULIAN ALPS BIOSPHERE RESERVE COMMUNICATION PLAN

The Julian Alps Biosphere Reserve Communication Plan is valid for three years (2022-2025) and has a double purpose. Firstly, it is intended to be a useful tool in organising and developing the Reserve’s own communication to meet the UNESCO MAB Programme guidelines. Secondly, it aims to locally and globally contribute towards raising awareness, popularising and promoting sustainable development.

The Biosphere Reserve identifies itself as a project aimed at the development of communities, in the full understanding of the values and opportunities of its territory, to deal with the environment as much as with the economy and social and cultural aspects. By integrating these aspects into a comprehensive vision of sustainable development, the communication activities aim to highlight the ambition of the area and its community towards improvement and growth. Last but not least, communication activities are aimed at making the Julian Alps Biosphere Reserve and its values known to the local community and the international context.

THE JULIAN ALPS BIOSPHERE RESERVE BRAND

The Man and the Biosphere (MAB) programme promoted by UNESCO pursues objectives and strategies related to the protection of ecosystems and the sustainable development of our planet. As part of this framework, the Biosphere Reserves locally implement and concretise these universal values. The primary objective of the Julian Alps Biosphere Reserve is therefore to interpret the values of a global programme, implementing them in a manner consistent with the characteristics of its territory and communities.

Similarly, the primary purpose of the brand image of the Julian Alps Biosphere Reserve is to convey the values of the Reserve and promote a culture of sustainability in synergy with the active organizations in its territory. Therefore, it is a purely promotional brand image, not a ‘seal of quality’ certifying the performance of those who display it. On the contrary, the use of the Julian Alps Biosphere Reserve brand is intended to reward the ambition of a territory and a community towards improvement, growth, and a drive towards sustainable development.

The brand image is also aimed at increasing awareness of the Julian Alps Biosphere Reserve and the values it pursues, both within the local community and in the national and international context. In this sense, the decision to extend the use of the Biosphere Reserve brand to all types of public and private organisations is intended to implement an effective action to involve local stakeholders, ensuring its wide dissemination.

APPLICATION FORMS:

  • TO APPLY FOR AND BE TEMPORARY GRANTED THE “JULIAN ALPS BIOSPHERE RESERVE ‘PROMOTIONAL’ BRAND TO PROMOTE TERRITORIAL PROMOTION INITIATIVES

Regardless of whether the promoter is public or private, the use of the “promotional” logo of the Biosphere Reserve shall be granted to territorial promotion initiatives – including for profit – that request it and whose consistency with the values of the MAB programme and the Julian Alps Biosphere Reserve is verified, and that include the implementation of cultural activities in the programme.

The request can be made by sending the following documentation via Registered E-mail (PEC) to the Julian Pre-Alps Natural Park (parcoprealpigiulie@cert.spin.it), in its capacity as the co-ordinating entity of the Julian Alps Biosphere Reserve, for the temporary concession of the Biosphere Reserve brand image for public initiatives:

  1. Application form to request use of the promotional logo

The concession is of a temporary nature and must be renewed for each edition of the initiative.

Before submitting your application, please consult the Julian Alps Biosphere Reserve brand guidelines.

  • TO APPLY FOR AND BE GRANTED THE BRAND NAME ‘SUPPORTER OF THE JULIAN ALPS BIOSPHERE’ FOR THE PROMOTION OF PRIVATE ORGANISATIONS ALSO OPERATING FOR COMMERCIAL PURPOSES

Under no circumstances is the MAB UNESCO programme brand to be granted for commercial use. A specific logo was therefore designed to enhance the value of those organisations that help achieve the objectives of the Biosphere Reserve by committing to an internal improvement process aimed at qualifying the organisation itself and its proposals in terms of sustainability. The “Supporter of the Julian Alps Biosphere Reserve” brand can therefore also be used for organisations with commercial purposes under specific concession terms (see guidelines for the use of the Julian Alps Biosphere Reserve brand).

The request is made via Registered E-mail (PEC) to the Julian Pre-Alps Natural Park (parcoprealpigiulie@cert.spin.it), in its capacity as the coordinating entity of the Julian Alps Biosphere Reserve, by sending the following documentation signed by the legal representative of the entity requesting the use of the brand.

  1. Application form for the ‘Supporter of the Julian Alps Biosphere’ brand
  2. Application form to sign the “agreement” to use the “Supporter of the Julian Alps Biosphere” brand.

The ‘Supporter of the Julian Alps Biosphere’ brand is granted for a fixed period of time, i.e. until the expiry of the deadline set by the entity that has specified to comply with the improvement. After that time period has expired, the contact person of the ‘supporting’ organisation will have to submit documentation proving that the improvement has been carried out and to propose new commitments.

Before submitting your application, please consult the Julian Alps Biosphere Reserve brand guidelines.
