Promoting sustainable tourism means preserving<\/strong> this heritage while also creating new opportunities for development for those who live, work, and visit these places.<\/span><\/p>\n This initiative is part of a broader effort to expand and strengthen sustainable destination management<\/strong>, developed as part of the INDIALPS<\/a>, project\u2014a cross-border cooperation initiative dedicated to innovative and sustainable tourism development in the Alpe-Adria region. The project involves public entities, natural area management organizations, tourism organizations, and research institutions, with the goal of promoting stable collaboration among the tourism sector, environmental protection, local communities, and border regions. <\/p>\n The initiative grew out of the experience gained by the Tourism Promotion Consortium for the Tarvisio, Sella Nevea and Passo Pramollo<\/a> areas within the framework of the GSTC<\/a> (Global Sustainable Tourism Council) standards, but it takes a broader view: that of an integrated tourist destination, capable of encompassing and linking the entire territory of the Julian Alps Biosphere Reserve with the neighbouring areas of Gemonese and Tarvisiano. Viewing the territory of the Italian Julian Alps as a single tourist destination<\/strong> means moving beyond a fragmented view of individual places, services or municipalities, in order to build a shared approach amongst authorities, operators, communities and stakeholders. <\/p>\n <\/p>\n<\/div>\n The Destination Management Plan<\/strong> is one of the key tools in this work. The document sets out the vision, objectives and actions<\/strong> designed to guide the region\u2019s tourism development in a coordinated and collaborative manner. The Plan serves as a strategic framework<\/strong> that helps organisations, operators, local communities and visitors to identify a common goal: to make tourism a positive resource, capable of generating value without compromising the natural, cultural and social balances<\/strong> that make the Julian Alps unique. <\/p>\n At the heart of the Plan lie sustainable tourism management and shared governance<\/strong>. Indeed, the quality of a destination depends not only on its landscapes or the services it offers, but also on the ability of local stakeholders to collaborate, monitor impacts, share responsibilities and guide future decisions. <\/p>\n For the Julian Alps Biosphere Reserve, this means strengthening a destination model in which tourism, conservation and participation go hand in hand.
